Another section of Norwida Street ready

It was put into use today (2 November) another fragment of Norwida Street (from Matejki Street to Cmentarna Street). The approximately 300-meter section is the second stage of the construction of the so-called small bypass of the city. On implementation of this investment, the city obtained over PLN 1.6 million from the Government Fund Road Development. WATCH THE VIDEO.

Section of Norwida Street from Matejki Street to Cmentarna Street is the second stage of the construction of the so-called small bypass of the city and the continuation of investment (section of Norwida Street between E. Plater Street and Matejki Street), which ended in 2020. As part of the second stage of the investment, the road surface, pavements and bicycle path, lighting and rainwater drainage.

For the implementation of the project "Construction of Norwida Street in Ełk on the section from intersection with Matejki Street to street Cemetery" the city obtained over PLN 1.6 million from the Government Road Development Fund.

The total value of the task – PLN 2.5 million.

Next, III the stage is being carried out by PKP as part of the construction of Rail Baltica, and then a section will be built from the intersection of Kościuszki-Dąbrowskiego streets (including the intersection) to connections with the planned downhill roundabout to the tunnel under the tracks. Planned completion of 4 stages - end of 2024

Stages of construction Norwida Street:

  • Stage I, i.e. on the section from intersection with Emilii Plater Street to Matejki Street – completed in 2020
  • Stage II, i.e. on the section from Matejki Street to Ul. Cemetery - just put into use.
  • Stage III implemented by PKP as part of the construction Rail Baltica. It will be a section from Cmentarna Street to the planned roundabout downhill to the tunnel under the tracks - the planned date of implementation to the end 2023
  • Stage IV of the works will cover the section from the roundabout under the tracks to Dąbrowskiego Street along with the bridge crossing over the river - planned date implementation by the end of 2024
