Property tax exemptions for new investments

During today's (30 March) session of the Ełk City Council, at the request of the President of Ełk, councillors adopted a resolution on exemption from real estate tax under de minimis aid. The exemption for entrepreneurs may be granted for up to two years.

Resolution includes exemption from property tax buildings occupied for the purposes of business activity for entrepreneurs who create a new investment in Elk.

Simultaneously the resolution makes the period of exemption from real estate tax of newly built buildings dependent on real estate occupied for economic activity depending on the expenditure incurred investment – expenditures are the purchase of land (from the municipality or other entity), construction of buildings and structures.

From property tax exempts buildings related to running economic activities constituting a new investment. Through a new investment should be understood as an investment related to the acquisition of land by an entrepreneur and construction of buildings related to running a business on them.

Right to tax exemption from real estate, does not include new investments related to construction residential, with commercial activities, occupied for petrol stations, stations basic digital telephony, wind farms.

The period of exemption depends on incurring capital expenditures:

  • for land purchased from the City of Ełk (over PLN 3.5 million net – 1 year, over PLN 7 million net – 2 years).
  • for land purchased from other entities than the City of Ełk (over PLN 3.5 million net – 6 months, over PLN 7 million net – 1 year)
