Via Baltica - another section has been opened. Faster from Ełk to Warsaw

Driver travellers on Via Baltica can already drive another open section of the route from Ostrów Mazowiecka to Śniadowo. Thanks to the newly opened section, the road The S61 expressway is already over 200 km long. There are only about A 13-kilometre section of the Łomża bypass. In As part of the investment, two road junctions were built: Ostrów Mazowiecka Północ, intersection of the S61 and S8 expressways and Komorowo (connection with the roads 627 and 677).

On the S8 route in the direction of Bialystok, for several It will take months to rebuild the viaduct over the railway line and to lay Surface. A connector from the Komorowo junction to the voivodeship road will also be built DW627.

Currently, work is still underway on the construction of the last one in the province. of the S61 section of the S61 from the Łomża West junction to the Kolno junction (12.9 km). In mid-2024, the contractor of the Łomża bypass is to make one of the carriageways of this route, and the completion of both carriageways is expected to take place in mid-2025.

In August 2023, a section of the S61 was put into operation Ełk Południe - Wysokie junction. As part of the construction of the latter, a road connection with the Ełk bypass along the S16 road (exit to Olsztyn).

Via Baltica connects Ełk with large cities and significantly shortens the travel time, m.in. to Warsaw (currently about 2 hours) or to Lithuania. The S61 expressway, connecting with the S8 to Warsaw and further to Wrocław, creates a international transport corridor between the Baltic States and Europe Western.
